Essays

You will write three essays this semester:
  1. Interpret an Experience
  2. Clarify a Process
  3. Highlight a Difference
Take a look at the Parts of an Essay to understand what I am looking for in your essays. What you'll do:
  • Pick a topic that relates to your personal experience.
  • Create a document in Google Drive to start your topic exploration. Name this document and place it in your shared writing folder.
  • Make a copy of this outlining template to start your outline. Rename the document and move it into your shared writing folder.
  • Make a copy of this essay template to start your essay. Rename the document and move it into your shared writing folder.
  • Once all three documents are in your shared folder, you will see them all together, with these file names:
    1. Lastname.Firstname.Paper.One.Topic.S14
    2. Lastname.Firstname.Paper.One.Outline.S14
    3. Lastname.Firstname.Paper.One.Paper.S14
  • First, write your topic exploration in the first document.
  • Second, fill in all the parts of the outline in the second document.
  • Third, write your rough draft in the third document.
  • When you start revising and polishing your rough draft to make it your best work, you will not make a new document but continue working in the original document for the paper.
  • Your rough draft and finished version of each essay must be at least 800 words long and adhere to MLA guidelines. You will write each essay in Google Drive, being sure to share it with me by placing the document in your shared writing folder.
  • Before I can give you full credit on an essay assignment, the topic exploration and outline must be complete, and the paper must be grammatically polished and carefully developed.
